End of Campaign Review

Well here we are, at the end of our Officeworks Oweek campaign for 2013. It's the end of an era!
Well, what can I say!  What an excellent way to end the first ever Officeworks/SMA O-Week Campaign!  These past few weeks have been jam-packed full of activity from each and every university!  I've heard from quite a few ambassadors that there were very positive responses to Officeworks during and post O-Week!  Excellent!  You've created such a hype around Officeworks that made the Officeworks stall at O-Week one of the most sought out, vibrant, talked about stalls on campus!

And it didn't end there!  Quite a few of our Officeworks ambassadors were approached by students on campus AFTER O-Week and who recognised them from O-Week!  Students remembered you guys because you had the BEST STALL ON CAMPUS!

You should all be very proud of the effort you have put in to making the Officeworks 2013 campaign such a huge success!  So give yourselves a pat on the back!

Now I've seen some excellent photos coming through the past few weeks, so let's reflect on a few of these fantastic campaign moments...

AMBASSADOR ENERGY (YOU!)
All across the country, the energy levels were sky-high for Officeworks! Here are some of the funnier ones that made me laugh to see how you kept up enthusiasm during the campaign...

CREATIVITY
One of the two qualities that we saw in each of you, and one of the reasons you were hired, your fabulous creativity skills. And boy did the creativity get a work out!...

PEER TO PEER
The whole point of the campaign was to share the Officeworks love with students on campus, talk to them all about Officeworks and spread the excitement of stationery! I saw some great connections being made, and heard stories from you about how good it was to put a smile on a first year's face...

LIMBO
And where would we be without our pun-tastic Limbo competitions! You guys really raised the bar with your limbo games (get it!), and students were bending over backwards (hilarious!) to win those prizes....

AND NOW, WHAT YOU'VE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR. It's time to announce the National Campaign Champions for 2013! And have we got a surprise for you! We have an extra bonus to give out today!

This award is for the top ambassador of the 2013 Officeworks Campaign. • Brilliant creative ideas for activities and approaches to making Officeworks stand out at O-Week
  • Fantastic summaries of what has been happening on campus

And the prize for brand ambassador? Just a brand new iPod Nano...in blue for Officeworks of course! Well done!

National Campaign Bonus

Well, this bonus goes to a team that has impressed me from day 1 and done a fantastic job on their campaign.  Even during training their ideas were different, creative and exciting.  This team has put their heart and soul into this campaign, not stopping for anything!  During every day of their O-Week stall days, despite the weather and amount of energy they were using, they never looked tired!  They were switched on for the entire O-Week, were extremely enthusiastic, excited to be there talking to students about Officeworks and getting as many students involved as possible!

They have:
  • Rolled out a superb O-Week stall, with exciting games, an extremely vibrant, sought-after stall which was always organised early and ready to go well before students began to arrive
  • Have been energetic, enthusiastic, approachable and friendly at all times during the campaign, right to the very last day
  • Have continued their peer to peer activity throughout the entire campaign, approaching all students around campus to inform them about the perks offered at Officeworks and just get them excited about the brand in general
  • Their communication and team work have been spot-on, and they are now great friends thanks to SMA!
  • Their communication with me has been amazing! I loved getting their calls each week
  • Excellent lecture announcements and engaging peer-to-peer during the campaign
  • Fantastic photos of every aspect of their campaign, from packing up to postering and everything in-between
  • Excellent postering during all weeks of the campaign
  • Amazing overall campaign management

Congratulations to....

TEAM DEAKIN

Here's a snapshot of Team Deakin's campaign:

Emily and Nicole, you've both won tickets for you and a friend to the music festival of your choice! Woo!

And finally, a HUGE congratulations to every team for putting in such an amazing effort over the course of the campaign!

I know these campaigns are a huge amount of work, but they give you the experience and knowledge of how to deal with different situations.  And at the end of the day, it all comes down to you guys on campus.  This was YOUR campaign!  And YOU have made the 2013 Officeworks Campaign a phenomenal success!

Well done!!!

Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication, I hope you've had a fantastic experience, it has been a pleasure to work with you all and best of luck for the year ahead!!!

Almost at the end of the tunnel...

We're close to the end of the campaign now, and starting to wrap it all up.

Here are just a few things to go over, to make sure everything is neat and tiny and tucked up before we make our fond farewells:

  • SURVEY  - The end-of-campaign survey is being finalised and will be sent out at the end of this week. You'll get an email with the link to the survey, so keep an eye on your inbox. Remember, completing the survey is how your training pay gets processed, so don't leave it undone for half a semester!

  • DROPBOX  - Make sure everything is uploaded for each week in your uni Dropbox folder. Go through and check for each week's Weekly Highlight, photos, and any videos you took. Remember, I need to see the fantastic work you did in each of the campaign weeks; I LOVE shots of networking, peer 2 peer, lecture announcements, postering, so chuck any spares up there. And there's still time to wow me and win that major prize!

  • TIMESHEETS - Take a look that you've submitted all your timesheets for the weeks of your campaign. I can't pay you unless you've submitted them!

  • FINAL CHECK-IN  - Some of you have had very early Oweek days, but I haven't forgotten about you! I'd like each of you to give one final call to check-in with me individually for a final chat on your state's allocated day.

That's it for now, so take a look that you're all up to date with everything in your reporting, and keep a lookout for my emails in the next week. I look forward to hearing from all of you!

Week 3 winners!

It's bonus time again, as once more I put my thinking cap on to award the third lot of bonuses from last week's magnificent stall days.

The winners of this week's photo bonus are team RMIT (VIC)!

A stack of fantastic pictures showing the whole story of Officeworks at RMIT; great games, great stall, and our own very excited ambassadors:

Happy hairspraying
Crazy-happy winners
Checking-in even in the rain!
Happy donuting
The happy team

Bonus pic:The most beautiful donut picture I think I've ever seen:

The bonus for this week's highlight goes to team Monash Caufield (VIC):

"After getting inspiration from all the wonderful stories on the Officeworks Blog, we were itching to start! It seemed like a long lead up but before we knew it, the day had arrived. We found ourselves feeling a little nervous but still excited as we began decorating our table, stacking mugs and arranging our giveaways with a horde of games in mind to bring in the crowds.
With the mugs in a pyramid formation, the urge to throw and aim ping-pong balls was almost uncontrollable, and before long we found a line of students waiting to play! The students excitedly lined up in the hopes of winning footballs, copy cards, mugs, toys and pens!

Having invited each of our stall attendees to the one o’clock limbo and telling them about the prizes, the turnout for limbo was absolutely brilliant! Day 1 saw the tae-kwon-do club coming out in force with the winner being an extremely flexible blue belt! Day 2 was dominated by the girls, who took out 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes of our technology bundle. Go girl power!
Wednesday started off with a BANG! Literally. A combination of the shining sun and our big, bright blue and red balloons soon generated some thrills and squeals! Balloons were popping left and right, reminding students of all the excitement happening at Officeworks!

With the buzz created on campus by our Officeworks stall, everyone wanted to test their skills. They didn’t even care about the prizes, they just wanted to win!"

The happy campers themselves

And finally, the bonus for campaign management go to team Deakin (VIC)!

The dames from Deakin had super levels of energy during the whole week of their stall days.
I got updated with excited texts each morning of the day's set up, as the team rolled out their array of fun and freebies at the Officeworks stall. They had a fantastic-looking stall, which drew people in, displayed the benefits of Officeworks, and created a fun place to hang out.

The team also kept in communication throughout the week, and called me to tell me of their adventures at the end of the day. The pics were rad, the highlight was hilarious, and they have succeeded in making a very memorable Officeworks vibe for the Deakin campus. Well done!

A big congratulations to this week's winners!

This brings us to the end of the campaign weekly bonuses. Some of our teams are finishing, others still have a little more to go. Now we just have the remainder of the postering and lecture announcements for our campuses before wrap up. Remember guys, be fabulous and confident, and the people will listen to you/love your posters.

And while the glamour of your stall days starts to fade, as you find yourself missing wearing all blue, remember: THERE IS STILL ONE BIG PRIZE TO GO!

The NATIONAL CAMPAIGN BONUS for the team that just blew my mind still needs to be announced. That means that EVERYONE is still in the running, as I look over how you've all gone, and how you're still going. Which means:
1) get those highlights in if they're not already submitted,
2) double-check all those happy snaps are uploaded,
3) get your timesheets in as well (don't forget to get paid!),

4) AND keep showing me you're doing fantastic work!
Those sexy stalls are gone but I still want to hear how you're doing with your work on campus, so keep telling me!

Alright, that's enough for one post, so keep your eyes peeled, to find out who will win the main prize! 'Til next time!

Week 3: fabulous final stalls!

The third and final week of stall days is nearly finished. This week there was finally some sun in Victoria for our last teams, and they embraced the vitamin D-filled energy to make week three as good as the last two whirlwind weeks of Officeworks adventures.

Team Monash Caufield profited from the lovely al fresco feel to get the crowds involved in a spot of free things and limbo. Who could resist?

The teams at RMIT and Uni Melb had so much fun last week that they came back for more-  stall activity days during week 1 of semester!  And the Deakin Officeworkers (get it?) played dress-ups all week, getting people to race to get decked out in red and blue then pose for photos. The results were hilarious!

Tips Section:

1. Most of you are now into to your postering and lecturing focussed weeks. As this can be an extremely repetitive and frustrating task (especially when your posters are postered over), I would recommend  considering the following:

- The best time to poster to maximise views before they are covered over (this will vary significantly from campus to campus!)
- The best places to poster that will maximise views
- Creative locations to poster that capture attention (Within reason! Don't get your hard work torn down!)
- Plan out exactly how many posters you need to do each session so you-
a) Get them all done
b) Don't exceed allocated hours

2. Try and stick within the approx. 1 hour each per week postering guide. A few campuses had very long O Weeks and stall days so your hours are understandably high. However please remember that you are expected to be promotionally active for every hour of your timesheet. A long work day should result in you getting through a lot of materials. If there isn't evidence of this or you can't justify the long hours in your plans, highlights or photos then you won't be paid for them.

**You should aim for at least 25 posters per person per hour, and take photos of you and your work!!**

3. Remember that pre-lecture announcements and peer to peer should also be in your post-O Week plans for the two weeks following. Again, this will vary from campus to campus depending on the uni culture and what they allow. This should be discussed with me for each team.

Going over the expected hours is not the end of the world- if you feel that you need to in order to get all the materials out there then please let me know. We prefer a few hours over than you having to send anything back!

Keep up the great work everyone! One more week of bonuses to give out, as well as the final grand prize for the winning team!

Bonuses Round TWO

Alrighty folks, it's time for the second round of bonuses from that past fantastic week that was.

For some fantastic photography, congratulations to team La Trobe (VIC)!

Winners, games, people clamouring for the stall: yay!

Team Uni Melb (VIC) wowed with their weekly highlight:

"After much preparation and organisation for our O-Week stall, the day soon arrived and we were EXCITED! Our "Big Ideas for 2013" board attracted long lines as students were eager to put their goals and aspirations on display, not leaving empty-handed of course! It was fascinating to observe the widespread collection of ideas, saving the world, pre-reading university material and being happy, to name a few. For larger giveaways, students showed us their 'check-ins' on Facebook and 'Like' of the Officeworks page. Our whiteboard advertised our three limbo times and the major prizes during peak hours of traffic, the final game being a mystery prize to arouse curiosity and interest.

Each limbo competition proved to be a huge success. It appealed to those not only participating but others who wanted to be a part of the atmosphere. With the music pumping, it created buzz on the South Lawn as people swarmed over to get their groove on. Competing stalls nearby joined in and a photographer from the Student Union was present at each game capturing the moment. As the line wilted to the champions, we were shocked at the talent displayed at Melbourne University. Some students reaching as low as 60cms! It was a truly spectacular form of the human species at work.

Nonetheless, after spreading the O-Week spirit on campus with body paint and blue hairspray whilst simultaneously informing the services provided at Officeworks and the closest stores, our job was done for the week. Exhausted, battered and run-down but with very big smiles on our faces - we had a fantastic time! It was satisfying to hear the positive feedback from others. In particular, the manager of NAB was 'raving about our setup' and the girls from CommBank congratulated us on our marketing efforts in generating a crowd."

The happy team!

And for this week's campaign management bonus, we have team Uni SA.

The team kept me updated, were organised and energetic to face the week. Each day I got an sms that all was going okay, and got to hear about their activities that made them one of the places to be on campus. The team had a peculiar stall position, but they made it work, with balloons, posters, and decorations galore. And as you can see, they drew the crowds in! Congratulations guys!

So a big well done, not only to our bonus-getting teams here, but to all the teams who did seriously wonderful stuff last week. I had a very hard time attempting to pick just three, believe me when I say it was so close between all of you.

Stay tuned for some honourable mentions, of fantastic teams and stalls that happened all around the country last week, and for the ones yet to happen this week!

Week 2: Campaigns as wild as the weather!

Hi again Officeworks gang!

Week two of our stalls and O-days and Market days has been in full swing this week.

Queensland settled soggily into a second week of wet weather and rain. Victoria, Tasmania and South Australia decided to jump onto the rain bandwagon too - many an ambassador got out the rubber-soled shoes this week!

Meanwhile NSW was sweltering! Almost heatwave-like temperatures left our ambassadors sweating in their stalls, providing just as much of a challenge to keep up the motivation.

But keep up the motivation they did, as all the teams campaigning this week did. I got so many excited phonecalls from you all, the weather couldn't dampen your spirits, and there were some ingenious activities that went on, using that creative manpower to make the Officeworks stalls some of the most memorable stalls on campus.

Here's a quick squiz at a few of the energetic teams working away this week:

Team Macquarie (NSW) with a happy winner!

Team Swinburne (VIC) with a super schnazzy stall table!

Team QUT Gardens Point (QLD) with killer  stall decorations!

Team RMIT (VIC) drawing quite the limbo crowd!

Team QUT Kelvin Grove (QLD) and their fantastic stall!

Team USYD (NSW) with one heck of a stall front and chalk!

Team UNSW (NSW) drawing the people in!

And many MANY more. It's been a crazy fun-filled week, that's still going!

Take a look at all these fantastic efforts - for stall ideas (BIG HINT: go wild with the balloons people!) and chatting with people about Officeworks, all of our teams have been finding ways to get people to notice that Officeworks is on campus and is wild about students!

Let's keep on trucking!

First week's bonuses!

Drumroll please!
The first week of winners for our first week of bonuses!

The team from Murdoch in WA win this week's highlight:

"Our highlights of the week have been gaining experience in public speaking during the pre-lecture announcements we made through the week. We also enjoyed exploring the Jandakot Officeworks store and finding out about all their products. They’re not just about stationery! They also have EVERYTHING YOU NEED FOR YOUR OFFICE! Coffee machines, fantails, sugar, cleaning products, the list is endless. Officeworks truly is your one stop shop!
Preparing for O-day was exciting. We loved baking cupcakes and making posters for the stall, very messy and very fun. Lastly, O-day itself was amazing. The limbo contest proved to be a huge hit. The donut-eating contests were also popular. We had people lining up and crowds all over Bush Court to watch and compete for a chance to win the amazing prizes. The Officeworks clackers were ideal for setting a fun atmosphere, getting people pumped and telling everyone that a competition was about to start. Students kicking Officeworks footballs around could be seen all over Bush Court proving them to be a great hit and also easy advertising. By the end of the day, it was obvious our stall had been successful - we were all happy, but exhausted and all the freebies had been snatched up by eager students. All in all, we had a great time mingling with people, telling them about Officeworks, learning about Officeworks ourselves and gaining new skills that we will definitely be able to use again."

Yay!

The team from Edith Cowan University in WA win this week's photo bonus:

These pics and more showed the whole fantastic array of things going on in team ECU's campaign. Happy prize-winners, fantastic stall presence, limbo comps, and happy energetic ambassadors!

And the team from the University of Queensland in QLD win this week's bonus for campaign management.

James and Madeline were on the ball and organised well before their stall day. Then we got a call that UQ's union had changed their mind about Officeworks being present on their Market Day, and cancelled our booking. This was a huge last minute change to all the plans both Maddy and James had been making in all their preparation work. But we found our way into being involved with the O-Week activities at the colleges at UQ, and so the week turned back into a full on week with even MORE events and activities than had originally been planned. Add to this the absolutely disgusting wet weather happening at the time in Queensland, and the week could have been a disaster.

But James and Madeline absolutely shone. Each day's events had last-minute planning needed, between the ambassadors, me, the events coordinators at the colleges, and the Officeworks store reps. James and Maddy kept me updated with everything that was going on, remained organised, and kept their campaign objective in focus throughout the week. They also kept the energy levels up and got people enthusiastic about Officeworks- Madeline woke up mid-week (on her Birthday!) to find her street had been flooded, but all she cared about was that it meant she'd come a little later than planned because she now had to take the train. Talk about dedication to the red and blue!

Congratulations guys!
